CBCL Awarded ACEC-NB Engineering Excellence Award for the Saint John Safe, Clean Drinking Water Project

CBCL was awarded an Engineering Excellence Award for the Saint John Safe, Clean Drinking Water Project.

The City of Saint John water distribution system is one of the first public systems in North America, dating back to the 1830’s. Upgrades have been made to the water supply system, however, elements of the original infrastructure still remain in service. The Safe, Clean Drinking Water Project is a project to modernize the City of Saint John water system.

It is a $215 Million project that includes the construction of a 75 ML/day water treatment plant, 33 ML of water storage and more than a dozen associated water system infrastructure improvement projects involving more than 25 km of water transmission main installation and rehabilitation. The project is being constructed under the P3 procurement model; the first of its kind in North America for linear water infrastructure development and is scheduled for completion in early 2019.
