The International Institute for Sustainable Development defines sustainable development as that which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, accepted by 192 UN member nations in 2015, goes further by categorizing and prioritizing sustainable development into 17 goals.
