CBCL Limited invests in experiential learning at UNB for engineers

CBCL Engineering & Environmental Design Services (CBCL Limited) has made a five-year, $100,000 investment in experiential learning for engineers at the University of New Brunswick.

CBCL Limited’s support will be used to establish the CBCL Student Experience Fund. The fund will support engineering students’ participation in experiential learning opportunities, UNB student orientation, clubs, teams and events that enhance the student experience.

Dr. Joshua Leon, UNB’s dean of engineering, said the diversity of opportunities that the fund supports will open new doors for undergraduates and faculty alike.

“Students can apply individually to support formal learning opportunities, such as travel to engineering conferences or competitions. They can also apply as a group to support teams or clubs or student events, such as the Iron Pin Ceremony,” Leon said. “The faculty can apply to the fund for support of campus activities such as invited speakers, capstone competitions, or orientation events. It’s going to be very helpful.”

CBCL Limited has 14 offices in five provinces, including New Brunswick. Since 1955, CBCL has focused on making meaningful global contributions. With experience in over 100 countries, its multi-talented team creates innovative solutions for its clients that positively shape tomorrow.

John Flewelling, President & CEO of CBCL Limited, said “We believe that experiential learning is a critical part of every future engineer’s journey. UNB’s leadership in this area aligns closely with CBCL’s values, and these hands-on opportunities not only enrich the student experience, but also help build the skills, confidence and community connections that engineers need to succeed.”

“CBCL Limited’s investment reflects a shared commitment to student success and to the future of the engineering profession,” said Dr. Kathy
