RJ Bartlett Engineering Wins ACEC-NB Engineering Excellence Award
We are thrilled to announce that RJ Bartlett Engineering, a division of CBCL Limited, has won the 2025 ACEC-NB Engineering Excellence Award for their fire protection engineering at the Health and Social Innovation Centre (HSIC) at the University of New Brunswick, Saint John.
RJ Bartlett Engineering, as the fire protection engineering consultant for Soloman Cordwell Buenz and Acre, developed an innovative fire protection strategy for the building. RJ Bartlett Engineering used a detailed computer simulation (Computational Fluid Dynamics Fire Modeling) that provided different scenarios to how smoke and fire could spread in the building, along with studying options to how people can safely leave a building while ensuring that the building remains safe enough that occupants are able to leave (Egress/Tenability Analyses).
The project sets a high standard for fire protection engineering in modern institutional buildings across Canada and supports interdisciplinary research, leading to social and economic benefits. The HSIC will leave a legacy as a model for fire protection in modern academic buildings.
